The spatial and material characteristics of Sportium have their origins in sports ideology, inspired by stadiums, grounds, and athletes aiming for the podium. This building is created to stand on its own and to stand out from the architecture of conventional commercial sites. The exterior and interior express a clear and systematic material cohesion. This coherence is reinforced inside by a progression of scales between the main structure and the tubular presentation systems. Popular in the sports field, the notions of performance and efficiency become reality through the prefabricated construction of architecture. The salient elements of the Sportium concept are luminosity and fluidity. The central atrium and large windows let in plenty of daylight, and at night, the interior echoes outside. A balance of natural light and LED lighting ensures visual comfort and a positive spatial experience based on the brightest and darkest months of the Canadian climate.
